Call for One Open MSc student position

in the frame of SONATA Bis 5 project entitled “Nanoengineering of thin layers of semiconductor photocatalysts in a microreactor environment for lignin-based model compounds valorization” (project nr  2015/18/E/ST5/00306) funded by the National Science Centre in Poland.

Job title: MSc student (First Stage Researcher – R1)

Type of contract: scholarship for 6 months, 1500,00 PLN (tax free) per month for 50% work, i.e. approx. 2.5 days a week.

Main Research Field: physical-chemistry

Activities, in which the applicant will be involved are: Design, synthesis and characterization of novel multicomponent nanophotocatalytic thin layers supported on the internal walls of a fluidic microreactor, the study of their activity in the selective photo-oxidation of lignin-based model molecules and the correlation of their performances with the composition, surface morphology and distribution of the active sites.

Expectations from the candidates:

  1. Passion for natural sciences, a strong motivation for scientific work and open mind, willingness of carrying out interdisciplinary research.
  2. Please note that only master’s level students are eligible to apply. The applicant should be enrolled in 2nd degree studies (4th or 5th year or equivalent) at the starting day of the work within the project. In case of uniform course of studies the applicant should be enrolled in at least 4th year of studies at the starting date of work within the project.
  3. Distinctions granted by virtue of scientific research, grants, awards and scientific experience acquired outside your own research work place in the country or abroad; participation in workshops and scientific trainings; participation in research projects.
  4. Experience in conducting scientific research in the field of catalysis, organic synthesis and materials characterization.
  5. English knowledge to the degree necessary for scientific work.
  6. Very welcome are publications in scientific journals.

The Commission will take into account the following criteria:

  1. Competences of candidates for specific tasks in a research project.
  2. Previous scientific achievements of candidates.
  3. Awards and distinctions of the candidate resulting from the conducting research.

  2. At least the opinions of two independent research scientists, specialists in the field of chemistry and related sciences.
  3. Copy of BSc diploma

During the recruiting process, the best candidates who meet the competition requirements will be invited for an interview.

The Commission evaluates applications on a point scale and the scholarship will be awarded to the person who obtains the highest number of points (in the case that the winner of the competition resigns from signing the scholarship agreement, the scholarship will be awarded to the second person from the ranking list).
