5th conference on Environmental Applications of Advanced Oxidation Processes

The 5th conference on Environmental Applications of Advanced Oxidation Processes (EAAOP 5, http://www.eaaop5.com/home) took place in Prague from the 25th to the 29th of June. During 4 intense days multiple sessions and presentations were conducted, with topics on many advanced oxidation processes including, but not limited to, Semiconductor Photocatalysis, Fenton/Photofenton processes, ozonisation, and their application for water treatment, air treatment, disinfection, etc.

Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Colmenares participated in the event and contributed with an oral presentation within the Water Treatment session titled Application of Titania-Based Continuous-Microflow Photocatalysis in Water Detoxification”, in which he explained the group’s approach to contaminants oxidation using photocatalysts in microfluidic devices (Microfluidic Photocatalytic Reactors, MPR) and their advantages over traditional methods, as well as reporting on the group’s latest results based on ultrasound technology for the fabrication of TiO2 nanoparticles incorporated in the internal walls of a polymeric microreactor.

Dr. Juan Carlos Colmenares would like to thank the National Science Centre (NCN) in Poland for the support within the research project Sonata Bis Nr.2015/18/E/ST5/00306.
