We had the pleasure last week of hosting Professor David Fernandez Rivas, one of our research partners in the project “Sonata Bis”, from the University of Twente, in the Netherlands. He imparted two lectures in our institute, one on his experience as an entrepreneur and how to adapt and promote the jump from academia to business, as well as a lecture on the possibilities of cavitation in multiple processes relevant in chemistry and chemical engineering. The titles of the lectures were as follow:
Lecture I: “Bubbles aka Cavitation, and some of its applications on Process Intensification I: From research idea to commercialization”.
Lecture II: “Bubbles aka Cavitation, and some of its applications on Process Intensification II: From researcher to entrepreneur”.
Hopefully the lectures will serve as an inspiration to young researches to try themselves in the world of entrepreneurship.
We would really like to thank Prof. Rivas for spending some time in our group, and specially for sharing his knowledge with us during his stay.
Professor Rivas\‘s visit was organized by the group “Catalysis for Sustainable Energy Production and Environmental Protection” from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Science (IPC-PAS), and supported by the National Science Centre (NCN) in Poland within research project SonataBisCatSee Nr.2015/18/E/ST5/00306, a project whose main aim is the synthesis of novel multicomponent nanophotocatalytic thin layers supported on the internal walls of microfluidic microreactors using ultrasounds, and the study of their activity in the selective photo-oxidation of lignin based model structures.
